The Sun is considered a Yellow Dwarf Star. This means it outshines 90% of other stars, has a surface temperature of 9,000 to 10,300 degrees Fahrenheit, and will live for about 10 billion years. The sun is about halfway through its life-cycle, having burned off half of its hydrogen. Once all its hydrogen has been burned, it will expand and engulf Mercury, Venus and Earth. At this point, the Sun will become a Red Giant Star.
